British Columbia is a great portion of the country dense in creative and inventive minds: leading to plenty of museums and galleries to keep them busy!  These are some of the most fantastic museums and galleries you can find in this province, and what they have to offer when you visit!

Museum of Anthropology

The Museum of Anthropology is a nearly 80-year-old landmark within the city of Vancouver.  At the University of British Columbia campus in Vancouver, this museum is well known for its massive displays of world arts, cultures, and fantastic imagination.  There’s a large focus on First Nation people and the art that they’ve made in this area for thousands of years.

Royal BC Museum

At 140 years old, the Royal British Columbia Museum is home to the Province of British Columbia’s human and natural history museum and the British Columbia Provincial Archives.  At home in Victoria, the Royal BC Museum is home to over seven million items and brings in almost 800,000 people every year.  Although this can be a lot to take in at once, it’s a must-visit for anyone in the area.

Vancouver Arts Gallery

While you’re looking at Vancouver homes for sale, take a moment and breathe in the incredible views at the Vancouver Art Gallery.  This not-for-profit organization is fully supported by its donors and the city of Vancouver, and in return, offers 15,300 square feet of gorgeous art.

Displays, like the recent one of Yoko Ono’s art that opened in October of 2021, cycle through every few months to allow visitors the chance to take in as much art and creativity as possible.  There’s a large selection of fantastic art,

Audain Art Museum

The Audain Art Museum is a fantastic source of art for anyone in Whistler.  This 56,000 square foot private museum is home to the personal art collection of Michael Audain, which contains pieces from all walks of British Columbian life.

The building itself is gorgeous and modern, with open-wood architecture that makes it look like it was weaved into the mountainsides itself.  The Audain Art Museum is a vital step for anyone who wants to enjoy beautiful art and get in from the icy coast of this skiing town!

Museum of Vancouver

The Museum of Vancouver is an award-winning civic history museum in Vanier Park in Vancouver.  This is the largest civic museum in Canada and the oldest museum in Vancouver.  The shape of the building is strikingly disk-shaped, leading many to refer to it as a UFO building.

Founded in 1894, this museum has seen numerous changes and reinventions and is an awesome place to know the reality of modern and past Canadians.

Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

This public art museum is a fantastic must-stop destination while you’re in Victoria!  This city is known for its high number of artists, and this museum shows them off in some of the most creative ways. Although the museum only sits on 2,474 square feet, every step has another beautiful piece of art to admire: this is somewhere you have to visit!
